Natalie Thompson is a prairie poet and writer from Regina, SK who currently resides in la belle province, Quebec.

Her work has been published in Grain, PRISM International, The TyeeMaisonneuve online, and Descant magazine. She holds a BA in Honours English from the University of Regina with a concentration in creative writing and Canadian literature, and she holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Colombia.

Natalie’s other passion is teaching.  She taught for and coordinated the UBC Creative Writing Faculty’s program, New Shoots—a high school outreach program that works to introduce that Vancouver School Board students to the joys of writing. Currently, she does one-on-one mentoring for the creative writing program Booming Ground.

Natalie’s verses have been described as having a rich “baroque quality” as they mine language—pastoral, romantic, colloquial, medical—to create striking images and “switchbacks/unexpected corners of tongue.” Her work is often narrative and puts the everyday in a basket with the astonishing to take her readers on a feast of diction and heart.
